Last July 21st marked the 45th anniversary of NASA’s Apollo 11, the first human to set foot on the moon.
Buzz Aldrin, the lunar lander pilot at the time, wore an replica Omega Speedmaster chronograph watch on his wrist.

On the 15th of last month, Omega held an event to personally invite legendary astronaut and American hero Buzz Aldrin Ong to the Omega boutique in Orlando, USA.
Of course, Buzz Aldrin wore Omega’s Speedmaster fake watches on this day. However, it is not the original model from 1969, but a new product that debuted at this year’s Baselworld.
He attracted attention by wearing the Speedmaster Apollo 11 45th Anniversary Limited Edition (Ref. 311.62.42.30.06.001).

The Speedmaster Apollo 11 45th Anniversary Limited Edition is now on sale worldwide.
As the name suggests, this is a limited edition watch of 1,969 pieces commemorating the 45th anniversary of Apollo 11’s moon landing.
Compared to the limited edition commemorating the 40th anniversary of the moon landing announced in 2009, it was produced in significantly smaller (?!) quantities (remembering that the steel model at the time was limited to 7,069 pieces…)^^.
The case body with a diameter of 42mm is made of grade 2 titanium with an overall brushed finish.
The bezel frame is made of Sedna Gold, Omega’s unique gold alloy, and the top insert with the tachymeter scale is made of matte black ceramic.
And the most eye-catching part is the dial. The matte dark brown tone dial has a unique and unique vintage color through PVD treatment.
The indexes and hands are treated with red gold to harmonize with the dial. Each of the three recessed counter dials looks like craters on the moon.

The use of a bulging box-shaped dome-shaped sapphire crystal is also intended to reproduce the antique feel of the original Hesalite glass.

“Flight Qualified By NASA All Manned Space Missions” and “The First Watch worn on the Moon,” which reflect the value of the historical model, are also printed on the case back.
Meaningful phrases such as “Apollo 11, 45th Anniversary, Limited Edition, 0000/1969” are engraved in layers around Omega’s seahorse emblem.
